Chinese philosophy has been around as early as 672 BCE, the earliest recorded date where it can be traced back to ancient Chinese literature such as the Yi Jing, "Book of Changes".
The rise in Chinese philosophy was best known during the Spring and Autumn period, as well as the Warring States period, also known as the "Hundred Schools of Thought". During this period, intellectual and cultural developments were prominent in Chinese society. Sima Tan, a well-known Chinese astrologer and historian during the Western Han dynasty, characterized the major philosphical schools of China as Confucianism, Taoism, and Legalism. Other Chinese philosophies during that era, such as Mohism, Chinese Naturalism, Logicians, and Agriculturalism never gained popularity as time went on.
This vast collection on Chinese philosophy will cover major schools of thought, such as Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. There are over 100 books on a single DVD covering this subject. You will learn about the early philosophers during Chinese history, including Confucious, Lao-Tzu, Mencius, and Wang Yangming. All of the books listed are published in the 1800s and early 1900s.
All of the book titles that are included in this DVD are listed as follows:
