This collection consists of the complete 12 volume book set of "A New English Dictionary on Historical Principles" (NED). It is edited by James A.H. Murray et al., and is known to be the precursor to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) that we know of today.

The NED has been published in parts spanning half a century; abridged and enlarged in various editions.  The set contains 10 main volumes (volume 1 to 10), as well as the proposal and supplement volumes.
