This is a large compilation on the early history of printing, with 210 digital vintage books on a single DVD. The main focus will be on the history of printing between the 14th and early 19th century Europe. You will discover how the development of the first printing press changed printing history forever in Europe, and how it was later developed into a more sophisticated method - known as the movable type of printing & typography that we are more familiar with today.
A man known as Johannes Gutenberg, was one of the first person to develop the mechanical movable type printing in Europe during the 14th century. This led to the rise of the Printing Revolution and played a crucial role during the Renaissance, Reformation, Age of Enlightenment, and Scientific Revolution. It laid the basic foundation for the modern knowledge-based economy and the spread of knowledge to the masses.
Another pioneer, William Caxton, was one of the first to introduce the printing press to England in 1476. He was also the first to open up a retailer for printed books. Learn more about Caxton and how he brought the printing press to England.
Take a look at the sample pages taken from just some of these books in the collection.
