Classical music is a form of European art music that is differentiated from non-classical musical forms by its use of staff notation. The earliest origins of classical music dated back to the 11th century of Europe.
Classical music includes forms of instrumental music such as the sonata, symphony, fugue, concerto, opera, mass, and cantata. The term "classical music" was not widely used until the turn of the 19th century, during the time when famous composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven rose to prominence, also known as the golden era in classical music history.
